How to Change Your Screen Resolution

Note: The Corporation of the County of Lambton assumes no responsibility for problems resulting from using the instructions listed below. If you experience any difficulties, contact your computer vendor or manufacturer for assistance. To change your resolution in Windows 95/98, Me, NT, 2000, or XP:
- From the Start menu, select Settings, and then choose Control Panel. If you are using Windows XP, then from the Start menu, choose Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear.
- If you are using Windows XP, open the Appearance and Themes icon.
- Open the Display icon. The Display Properties window will appear.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Ensure that the Screen area option is set to 800 by 600 pixels or higher and the Color quality is set to Highest (32 bit). Note: If it is available, click the Test button. If the screen appears blank, it will return to normal in 5 to 15 seconds. You will need to contact your computer vendor or manufacturer for assistance in changing the resolution setting.
- Click the OK button. Note: You may be prompted to restart your computer. Click the OK button to restart your computer.
To change your resolution on a Mac:
- From the Apple menu, select Control Panels. You will either have the option Monitors & Sound or Monitors.
- If the option is Monitors & Sound:
- Open the Monitor icon.
- From the list of available resolutions, select the resolution you wish to use. Your screen resolution will change instantly.
- Close the Monitors and Sound window.
- If the option is Monitors:
- Ensure that the Show pull-down menu option is set to Recommended.
- From the list of available resolutions, select the resolution you wish to use. Your screen resolution will change instantly.
- Close the Monitors window.
For all other Mac versions:
