Social Planning & Program Support

Social Planning & Program Support
Social Planning & Program Support focuses on three main areas: social planning, program support and compliance.

SOCIAL PLANNING: Examines the community's needs based on factors such as demographics and social trends, and recommends action plans to address these needs. Children's poverty and future youth programming are examples of social needs the department may examine.

PROGRAM SUPPORT: Includes the overall administration of the Lambton Shared Services Centre (LSSC), a building within the Bayside Mall that is home to three levels of government and one private partner. Program support ensures that all partners' needs are addressed and that the LSSC is operated efficiently and effectively.

PROGRAM COMPLIANCE:  Staff focus on compliance by evaluating community based programs funded by the Countyof Lambtonto ensure that funds are allocated and used properly by the agencies.

Local Immigration Partnership (LIP)

Funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Local Immigration Partnership – or LIP – initiative encourages communities across Ontario to develop a comprehensive plan for the delivery of newcomer services.

It is a research investment to help communities put immigration on their planning and programming agendas and benefit from the successful social and economic integration of new immigrants. Collaboration and community participation underpin the research framework in that the resulting settlement strategy will bring together local agencies and organizations to better assist newcomers with improved or integrated programming and services.

Lead by the County of Lambton, a LIP Council consisting of community members and stakeholders has been formed to guide the efforts of project staff in developing the newcomer settlement strategy and corresponding action plan.
