Wyoming, ON – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this morning to mark the installation of a new gateway sign along Highway 402 in Warwick Township.
“The gateway sign will help people recognize Lambton County’s presence along our busiest transportation corridor. We want people to know we are here and that we have a lot to offer for businesses, visitors, and residents alike,” said Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott.
Lambton County Council originally put forward a request to consider a gateway sign for the County along Highway 402 back in 2013. At the time, Tourism Sarnia-Lambton spearheaded preliminary work for selecting a site and potential design concepts that were brought back to Council for consideration.
“Lambton County Council has been supportive throughout this project and the end result of the gateway sign project is something the whole community can be proud of,” added Jason Cole, General Manager, Infrastructure & Development Services.
Council authorized initiation of the design and site selection in 2016. The consulting firm, Stantec, assisted developing site and design alternatives that incorporated the ‘Discoveries That Matter’ community branding as well as the County of Lambton logo. The final design put forward for tender included the sign design, tiered landscaping, and lighting in a prominent visual location along Highway 402.
The construction contract was awarded to KWS Electrical Services Inc., based in London, in November 2021 for $194,000 and was completed this spring.
