Point Edward, ON – Lambton Public Health (LPH) is ringing the bell to encourage eligible students to get their first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible.

According to Kevin Churchill, Manager of Family Health, “The window of time for youth ages 12-17 to get both doses of COVID-19 vaccine to ensure their safer return to school is beginning to close. Those that received their first dose 28 days ago can book an appointment or drop-in to selected clinics for their second dose now. For those who still need their first dose, we would like to see as many young people as possible get vaccinated this week in order to ensure they can get their second dose in ideally 14 days before school begins on September 7.”

If you have questions, please contact the LPH Vaccine Call Centre at 226-254-8222 from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note: Vaccine Call Centre volumes are very high at this time. In order to allow eligible people to book second doses, we ask that those who do not meet the eligibility criteria be patient and avoid calling until they are eligible.

Eligible youth are asked to book their second dose appointments for any of the local clinics using LPH’s online Registration. The following clinics will include a drop-in or walk-in option for all residents 12 years old and up:

  • The Shores Recreation Centre, Forest
    Wednesday July 28, 2021; 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., or while vaccine supply lasts
  • Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre, Florence
    Thursday July 29, 2021; 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., or while vaccine supply lasts
  • Wyoming Fairgrounds Building, Wyoming
    Thursday July 29, 2021; 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., or while vaccine supply lasts
  • Clearwater Arena, Sarnia
    Friday July 30, 2021; 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., or while vaccine supply lasts

There are also appointments available on August 4, 5 and 6.

To date, a total of 158,586 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to residents of Lambton County by public health, hospitals, primary care and pharmacies. That represents 75.6 percent of adults (aged 18+), and 59.1 percent of youth (aged 12-17) who have received one or more doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in the region. Currently, a total of 64.9 percent of adults and 34.6 percent of eligible youth are considered fully vaccinated with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
