The Housing Services Department provides housing assistance to over 2,000 County of Lambton residents. In addition to administering the non-profit, co-operative, rent supplement and affordable housing programs, the Housing Services Department provides property management services for 830 units owned by the Corporation.
The department oversees several programs and initiatives including:
- Affordable Housing Seed Funding Program
- Community Support Workers
- Homeownership Down Payment Assistance
- Lambton Renovates
- Additional Dwelling Unit Incentive Program
- Portable Housing Benefit
- Special Needs Housing
- Document Submission Portal
Apply for Housing Assistance
To apply for housing assistance, follow these steps:
- Complete the application form and ensure all applicants 16 years and older sign. You can get an application:
- By completing the Online Application Form
- By downloading and printing the application form.
- By visiting the Housing Services office in the Lambton Shared Services Centre, 162 Lochiel Street, Sarnia.
- By calling 519-344-2062 ext. 2200 or toll free 1-800-387-2882.
- If filling out a paper copy, submit the completed application and all required documents to:

- Housing Services Department
- Staff will review your application and follow up with you in one of the following ways:
- If your application is incomplete, you will receive a letter advising what additional information is needed. If the missing information is not provided your application will be cancelled.
- If your application is complete, you will receive a letter stating if you are eligible for housing assistance.
- Eligible households will be added to the waiting list for the selected locations.
