The County of Lambton's Housing and Homelessness Plan, 2020-2024 |
The County of Lambton's 10 Year Housing and Homelessness Plan, 2020, frames the planning and delivery of housing and homelessness supports within the community. This plan is guided by the vision of "Housing First, Housing Right" and three strategic directions: Homelessness Prevention, Housing Stability and Sustainability. The Housing & Homelessness Plan was approved by County Council on November 6, 2013. This is a high level strategic plan that addresses issues across the entire housing continuum (from homelessness shelters to market housing). The Housing and Homelessness Needs Report aims to seek out and highlight the community needs. The Best and Promising Practice Review is available to read. |

Homelessness Enumerations
2024 Homelessness Enumeration |
Lambton conducted another iteration of Homelessness Enumeration during the week of October 7-11, 2024, serving two key objectives - participating in the national Point in Time (PiT) Count activities required by Housing Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC) and collecting local data regarding the characteristics of those individuals who were experiencing homelessness. Social Services Division staff and several community agencies partnered to administer the Enumeration survey to individuals experiencing homelessness. A (PiT) Count was conducted on October 9, 2024. PiT data provides a snapshot of homelessness and should be considered to undercount broad and hidden homelessness, which are more accurately captured through By-Name Data. 2021 Homelessness Enumeration |
To attain a more comprehensive assessment of the homelessness situation in the County of Lambton, the Social Services Division conducted a Homelessness Enumeration during the week of June 21-25, 2021. This enumeration used two separate surveys to compile data which will help prepare national, provincial and local profiles of homelessness, inform local programming decisions within the Housing and Homelessness sectors, and compile a by-name list that will assist with providing coordinated access to services and supports through many organizations assisting those experiencing homelessness in Lambton County. To learn more about the enumeration, see the reports below: |
2018 Homelessness Enumeration |
The County of Lambton has released the results of the 2018 community enumeration events. From May 7-18, 2018, Lambton County completed its first Period Prevalence Count (PPC) to understand patterns of homelessness with Lambton County and demographics of individuals that were experiencing homelessness. The results of the enumeration provided the County of Lambton with evidence based data that there is a need for further work on preventing homelessness and a need to focus on ensuring that practices are in place to move people into appropriate housing when homelessness occurs. Thank you to all individuals, families, volunteers, and organizations involved in Lambton County's 2018 enumeration event. Read the full report, A Voice for Hope. |
