
Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 4, Lambton County Council:
- Heard a presentation from Graham Cubitt, President, Flourish Affordable Housing Communities, and Natasha Thuemler, Regional Director, Indwell Community Homes, regarding the progress of supportive and affordable housing initiatives in Lambton County.
- Endorsed a resolution from the Regional Municipality of Halton regarding provincial and federal collaboration and ensuring municipalities have access to fully funded support for encampments and unsheltered homelessness initiatives.
- Endorsed a motion passed by the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming calling for a pause in enacting Bill #5 Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025.
- Received updates from the Social Services Division regarding supportive and affordable housing, including an update on the Supportive and Affordable Housing Strategic Development Plan and the County’s partnership with Indwell Community Homes.
- Approved the following new hours of operation for Florence Library, set to begin August 31, 2025:
- Monday - 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Tuesday - 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Wednesday - 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Thursday - 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday - Closed
- Saturday - 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Sunday - Closed
- Approved the Housing Services 10-Year Capital Asset Management Plan Update.
- Approved hiring one permanent full-time Program Supervisor and 2.5 permanent full-time Community Support Workers to support future operations of the HART Hub, with a focus on Homelessness Prevention.
Council will next meet at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The meeting will begin with a Closed Session, if necessary, followed immediately by the Open Session.
