Sarnia, ON – Lambton County Council approved the lease of a commercial property at 805 Upper Canada Drive in Sarnia to serve as a temporary station to support Lambton Emergency Medical Services’ (EMS) operations at its meeting on May 7, 2025.
The temporary facility will allow for the expansion of service until construction on a new EMS Headquarters at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park can be completed. Approval to start work on the new Headquarters was received from County Council earlier this year, along with the provision of an additional 12 hours of daily ambulance service.
The temporary station, located on Upper Canada Drive near the intersection of Confederation Street and Modeland Road, will be staffed by 2 ambulances during daytime hours and one ambulance overnight starting in July 2025. Service in the Sarnia area will also continue to be provided from the existing EMS stations on George Street and in Bright’s Grove.
Lambton EMS Manager, Stephen Turner, remarked on the milestone, saying, “The temporary station at Upper Canada Drive will not only help to provide improved emergency coverage to the west end of Lambton County, but will also help reduce response times to life-threatening emergencies throughout the County. We’re thankful for the support of County Council and the community and we’re looking forward to continuing delivering on the goals set out in our Master Plan.”
This project works towards completing the deliverables contained within the 2024-2028 Lambton EMS Master Plan. The goal of the Master Plan is to meet the growing medical needs of the community and to enhance emergency medical response for all residents and visitors of Lambton County.
