Lambton Heritage Museum hosts A Taste of Science feature exhibition

Grand Bend, ON – Lambton Heritage Museum is excited to announce the new feature exhibition A Taste of Science is now open. The exhibition is on loan from the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum until Saturday, October 25, 2025.

The exhibition engages all senses to explore the science behind food safety, particularly as it relates to slowing the decay of food to keep it nutritious and safe to consume. Visitors can step inside an oversized “pantry” to learn about different methods of food preservation, as well as the science behind why food spoils in the first place. The displays are bilingual and suitable for all ages.

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum developed the exhibition through its food literacy initiative, launched in May 2013. Additional support from partners such as Nestlé Canada, the Government of Canada, and Bernardin Ltd. has enabled the CAFM to bring this exhibition and other food literacy programs to audiences across Canada.

“Food safety is something we all rely on every day, but many people don’t realize the fascinating science behind it,” said Dana Thorne, Curator/Supervisor with Lambton Heritage Museum. “This travelling exhibition offers a fun, hands-on way for visitors of all ages to explore how and why food spoils—and the innovative methods we’ve developed to keep it appetizing and safe. We’re thrilled to work with the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum to offer this “fresh” experience to our visitors.”
