Lambton Public Health Declares Three Workplace Outbreaks and One School Outbreak

Point Edward, ON - Lambton Public Health (LPH) is investigating three new workplace outbreaks and one school outbreak, all declared on Saturday December 26. LPH has received five laboratory-confirmed positive test results for COVID-19 linked to the first workplace, two linked to the second and also the third workplaces and two linked to the school.

The school outbreak involves Great Lakes Secondary School. LPH is working with the Lambton Kent District School board to ensure additional safety measures are in place for any staff accessing the facility during the current holiday closure.

A workplace or school outbreak is declared when there are two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in staff (employees, contractors, volunteers) students or other visitors in a workplace or school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the setting.

The individuals who tested positive have been notified of their results and LPH is continuing to conduct case and contact management as part of the investigations. LPH will continue to monitor the situation and work with the stakeholders involved to limit further transmission in the setting and the broader community.

No additional details will be provided at this time based on the current needs of the investigations. All individuals impacted have been notified.
