Oil Springs, ON – The Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, is excited to announce the return of the annual Black Gold Fest event on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Black Gold Fest invites residents to learn more about the rich heritage that exists in their own backyards. The family-friendly event includes live music, heritage demonstrations, crafts and activities, food and beverage vendors, and free face-painting. In celebration of the Village of Oil Springs’ 160th anniversary, this year’s event will feature more demonstrations and exhibitors than ever before, offering visitors more ways to connect with Lambton County history and the broader community.

“Black Gold Fest is a celebration of the incredible innovation that started right here in Oil Springs. It is fitting that we can mark the Village of Oil Springs’ 160th anniversary at the same time,” said Jessica Stevenson, Marketing and Events Coordinator with the Oil Museum of Canada. “We’re thrilled to acknowledge this special occasion with more interactive heritage demonstrations and engaging activities to spark imagination and curiosity in visitors of all ages.”

Visitors are also encouraged to explore the Village of Oil Springs’ anniversary celebrations downtown and at the Oil Springs Youth Centre. The day will begin with a Hobby and Pet Parade at 11:00 a.m. and continue through the afternoon and evening with local food, community entertainment, and a kids fun fest featuring inflatables.

Admission to Black Gold Fest is free, and donations are gratefully accepted. For more information on this year’s activities, demonstrations, and exhibitors, please visit the Black Gold Fest event page at oilmuseum.ca.
