Point Edward, ON – Starting April 7, 2022, Ontario will expand eligibility for a fourth dose (second booster) of COVID-19 vaccine to additional populations. This announcement follows the National Advisory Committee on Immunization’s (NACI’s) review of the benefits of an additional booster to increase protection against severe disease which has been shown to decrease over time.

Eligibility will be expanded to the following groups:

  • First Nations Inuit and Metis individuals aged 18+ at an interval of 140 days (5 months) after 3 doses of Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Individuals aged 60+ at an interval of 140 days (5 months) after 3 doses of Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccines.

Fourth Doses have already been made available for high-risk individuals living in long-term care and retirement homes, as well as immunocompromised individuals.

Lambton Public Health (LPH) is prioritizing the local roll-out of vaccine appointments to eligible populations in order to protect the most at risk of severe disease first. Starting April 7, 2022, appointments can be booked for the Lambton Public Health Main Office Clinic or additional locations. Appointment availability will be prioritized as follows:

  • Individuals 80 years of age and older and First Nations Inuit and Metis individuals aged 18 and older will have access to book an appointment for earlier dates in the booking system.
  • All other eligible Individuals will have access to book an appointment for later dates in the booking system. Dates are sequenced based on age groups and additional dates will continue to be added to the booking system as they are confirmed.

Appointments may be booked online at GetTheVaccine.ca. If you require assistance with booking please call our Vaccine Call Centre at 226-254-8222. The Vaccine Call Centre operates Monday to Friday (except statutory holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We expect high call volumes when booking becomes available; please remain patient as we scale up to meet the demand.

Other COVID-19 vaccination options include access to community pop-up clinics, participating pharmacies or select primary care providers for all eligible individuals.

Masks are still required in clinical settings. If you are able to, please continue to mask where required. Please remain home if you are sick and rebook your appointment for a later date. These basic actions will help protect our most vulnerable.

Additional information regarding booster dose eligibility can be found on our website. Vaccines remain the best way to prevent severe COVID-19 outcomes and reduce the strain on our healthcare system.

All eligible Lambton County residents are encouraged to stay up to date with their eligible COVID-19 vaccinations doses. As with vaccines for other diseases, you are protected best when you follow the recommended schedule.
