Sarnia, ON - When it comes to tobacco use, Lambton Public Health wants to help you write 'your quit story'.

'Start Your Quit Story' is a new campaign developed by local health units to support local smokers in their quit journey by sharing personal stories from those who have quit smoking.

"Quitting smoking is a huge challenge, and sharing quit stories with others could be the motivation someone needs to quit," said Lisa Clark, Health Promoter at Lambton Public Health.

If you smoke, are thinking about quitting, or have already quit, join the conversation by connecting with the Facebook group @StartYourQuitStory. In addition to inspirational stories, Start Your Quit Story provides support, access to local resources, motivational quit tips, and showcases the realities of smoking-related illness and the benefits of quitting smoking.

In 2015-16, 23% of adults in Lambton County aged 20 years and older reported smoking either daily or occasionally (Canadian Community Health Survey, 2015-16). Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable disease and death in Ontario. More than 13,000 Ontarians die annually from tobacco-related illness.

For support and information about quitting smoking:
