Bookshelves in a library

Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library is hosting its annual Used Book Sale on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (or while supplies last) at the Wyoming Fairgrounds, 595 Main Street, Wyoming.

“The book sale is a great opportunity to recycle duplicate copies of popular books or non-circulating copies of books and make room on the shelves in our 25 libraries for new titles,” said Brian Bowley, Technical Services Supervisor with Lambton County Library.

The Used Book Sale features a variety of books, audiobooks and DVDs in all categories that have been withdrawn from the library collection due to age, low circulation, wear, and other factors. Items are priced to sell at $1 for adult titles, and $0.50 for children’s titles. Alternatively, shoppers can fill their own standard-sized shopping bag for $5, with a limit of six bags per person. Only cash payments will be accepted, and all sale proceeds will offset the library’s operating costs.

“Last year’s Used Book Sale was significantly larger than typical years, since we had not hosted a book sale for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” continued Bowley. “This summer’s event will offer a smaller selection than last year, and the majority of books that will be available are adult titles.”

Building capacity limits will be enforced to ensure all shoppers' safety and well-being. Shoppers should be prepared for queueing outdoors in variable weather conditions. Shoppers are encouraged to follow Lambton Public Health’s recommendations for preventing heat-related illness.
