Emergency Preparedness Week

Emergencies can happen at any time, often with little to no warning.

As Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4-10) approaches, watch for messages from agencies and organizations in your community about how you can prepare to keep you and your loved ones safe, if disaster strikes.

  • Know the risks: where you live, work, and play.
  • Make a Plan: list emergency contacts, evacuation routes, and meeting locations.
  • Assemble a Kit: pack essential survival items for you and your family for at least three days.
  • Plan for Pets: put together an emergency kit for your pets.
  • Stay informed: sign up for Sarnia-Lambton Alerts, follow your municipality online, and listen to the radio for updates.

For more information, visit EmergenciesLambton.ca.

Lambton EMS participates in Medics Against Hunger food drive

Lambton EMS paramedics participated in the Medics Against Hunger Food Drive at the Real Canadian Superstore in Sarnia on April 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The event was a great success and a total of 2,511 pounds of non-perishable food was donated to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.  Staff collected a combination of pre-made donation bags and other donations provided by the community.  Community members also had the opportunity to engage with Lambton EMS staff and view some of our fleet, including an ambulance and a variety of EMS outreach vehicles.

The event was organized by Ann Miller, Lambton EMS Paramedic with the Community Health Integrated Care (CHIC) team.  Special thanks are also extended to Lambton EMS Community Paramedics and Deputy Chief Lynn McCreary for supporting the event.

Photo Gallery: Medics Against Hunger Food Drive will appear here on the public site.

Living snow fence program

The time for spring planting is almost here! Landowners and farmers - did you know the County runs a living snow fence program?

Living snow fences use standing rows of corn to help keep wind-blown snow off County roads, reducing the need for plowing and salting.

If you own land along a County Road and are interested in participating in the program, visit lambtononline.ca/snowfence to learn more about program requirements, compensation, and how to participate.

Two new exhibitions opening at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery

This spring and summer, JNAAG presents two compelling exhibitions exploring our relationship with the environment and visions of our world in transition.

In "Futures," one of Canada's most exciting contemporary artists, Rajni Perera, presents her multimedia vision of imagined worlds where transformed beings navigate challenging environments. Drawing from her Sri Lankan heritage, Indian miniature painting traditions, medieval armor designs, and science fiction, Perera creates work that spans feminist and immigrant themes while addressing survival in a changing world. The exhibition features her early goddess figures alongside newer abstract works and sculptures that respond to today's environmental challenges with creativity, humor, and thoughtful critique. "Futures" is organized by McMichael Chief Curator Sarah Milroy and includes works from all stages of Perera's career, including pieces created specifically for this exhibition.

Complementing this forward-looking perspective, "Storm Watch" draws from the gallery's permanent collection to examine how artists have captured extreme weather throughout history. As climate awareness grows and our seasons become more unpredictable, this exhibition brings together historic and contemporary interpretations of nature's power through works by renowned Canadian artists including Christopher Pratt, Rita Letendre, A.J. Casson, and David Blackwood.

Together, these exhibitions invite visitors to consider both artistic responses to our changing climate and creative visions for navigating uncertain futures.

The new exhibitions are now open. Visit jnaag.ca for more information, hours of operation, and upcoming events.
