As Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4-10) approaches, watch for messages from agencies and organizations in your community about how you can prepare to keep you and your loved ones safe, if disaster strikes.
- Know the risks: where you live, work, and play.
- Make a Plan: list emergency contacts, evacuation routes, and meeting locations.
- Assemble a Kit: pack essential survival items for you and your family for at least three days.
- Plan for Pets: put together an emergency kit for your pets.
- Stay informed: sign up for Sarnia-Lambton Alerts, follow your municipality online, and listen to the radio for updates.

Two new exhibitions opening at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery
This spring and summer, JNAAG presents two compelling exhibitions exploring our relationship with the environment and visions of our world in transition.
In "Futures," one of Canada's most exciting contemporary artists, Rajni Perera, presents her multimedia vision of imagined worlds where transformed beings navigate challenging environments. Drawing from her Sri Lankan heritage, Indian miniature painting traditions, medieval armor designs, and science fiction, Perera creates work that spans feminist and immigrant themes while addressing survival in a changing world. The exhibition features her early goddess figures alongside newer abstract works and sculptures that respond to today's environmental challenges with creativity, humor, and thoughtful critique. "Futures" is organized by McMichael Chief Curator Sarah Milroy and includes works from all stages of Perera's career, including pieces created specifically for this exhibition.
Complementing this forward-looking perspective, "Storm Watch" draws from the gallery's permanent collection to examine how artists have captured extreme weather throughout history. As climate awareness grows and our seasons become more unpredictable, this exhibition brings together historic and contemporary interpretations of nature's power through works by renowned Canadian artists including Christopher Pratt, Rita Letendre, A.J. Casson, and David Blackwood.
Together, these exhibitions invite visitors to consider both artistic responses to our changing climate and creative visions for navigating uncertain futures.
The new exhibitions are now open. Visit jnaag.ca for more information, hours of operation, and upcoming events.
