FAQs

I am a first-time user. How do I begin?

Before applying to jobs, you must first create a presence/profile. You can do this by selecting the “Sign-In” option in the top right corner of the job board. It will direct you to a log-in screen. You will select the Register Now option. Enter your name, email address,  phone number, and create a password. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided that the account has been successfully set-up. After registering, you will be prompted to sign-in to your account.

Do I need to create a profile to apply for a job?

Yes. Please follow the instructions in question #1 to create a profile.

I had an account with the County’s previous job board, can I still use that account?

Yes. Select “Create or Reset Your Password” underneath the log-in screen. Once you verify your email address, you will create a new password. Once you have successfully logged in, you will be able to view past applications and any application documents that were attached to your profile.

Can I view only the most recent jobs that have been posted?

Jobs appear from newest to oldest. The most recent jobs will appear at the very top of the listings.

How do I know if my application has been received?

There are 2 ways that you can confirm your application has been received, they are:

  • You will receive a confirmation email to the email address that your account is registered under
  • The application is viewable under the Applications tab in the “My Presence” section when you are logged in to your job board account
I’m getting the following error message “we don’t receive that username/email and password combination. Try again” what do I do?

You may be entering the wrong password information. Select Create or reset your password under the sign in button. You will be prompted to enter your email address. An email with a code will be sent to your email. Input the code from the email and you will be asked to create a new password.

If you are unsure if you have already registered for an account, you can try registering for an account with the same email address. If you try to register for an account with an email address that has already been used, an error message will appear saying “an account has already been created using this email.” You can proceed with changing the password to access the account.

How do I upload a resume?

To upload your resume as part of your profile, please follow these steps:

  • Select My Presence after logging in to your account
  • Click on the Documents tab
  • Click on the pencil icon beside Uploads
  • Select Upload a file
  • Find the document you wish to upload and select open
  • From the drop-down, select what type of document it is. You can also add a description of the document if you wish
  • Click Save

Please note: Uploading a document to your presence/profile does not attach it to a job posting. You must attach a document when you are applying to a specific job posting.

Can I apply in person with a hard copy of my resume?

No, the County of Lambton will only accept applications that are submitted online through our Job Board. Any applications submitted outside of this will not be accepted.

Personal information required by job postings is collected under the authority of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 1990, CHAPTER M.56, as amended. The treatment, storage and handling of personal information is governed by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, CHAPTER M.56, as amended and will be used in reviewing applications.

Is there a central place where I can send my resume to be considered for future job openings that suit my qualifications?

No, you must apply to each job posting individually.

Can I change my application documents?

Once your application has been successfully submitted, you are not able to change your application documents, or pre-screening question answers.

How can I hear of future job opportunities?

To hear about future job opportunities as soon as they are posted, you can subscribe to job alerts. To activate Job Alerts, go to the Find Opportunities tab and locate the search bar. You can search any job identifying terms that you may be interested in (Personal Support Worker, Nurse, Administration, Finance, etc.). You can also use the filters Location, Category, Schedule, and Job Location Type under the search bar of to further customize your notifications.

After searching the term, all current open positions that match your description will be listed below. A blue tab labeled “Activate job alerts for the search” will also generate. To create a Job Alert for your specified terms, click on the “Activate job alerts for the search”. You will be able to change the frequency in which you receive updates about the new posted positions. After selecting the desired Frequency, click Create.

How do I manage my job alerts?

To unsubscribe to any of your job alerts select your name on the top right of the job board. In the drop-down menu, select subscriptions. A list of your Job Alerts will formulate with the option to unsubscribe.

I missed the deadline to apply, but I would still like to have my application included. Is this possible?

Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. on the closing date. The closing dates are included on each of the job postings. If the job posting is still available on the job board, but the job posting closing date has passed, please do not apply. Your application will not be considered.

What kind of references will I need to provide if selected for an interview?

If you are selected for an interview, you will need to provide at least three (3) professional/employer references, preferably those in a supervisory or managerial position. Students and new residents of Canada may provide academic references.

What if I need an accommodation at an interview or during the recruitment process?

The County of Lambton is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities. If you require an accommodation, we will work with you to meet your needs.

When will I hear from the County of Lambton regarding my job application?

Although we appreciate all applications, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Do I need to have a Police Check to apply to a job?

Certain jobs at the County of Lambton do require a valid Criminal Record Check and may require a Vulnerable Sector Check, however, you do not need to submit a Police Check to apply to a job. If the job requires a Police Check, this will be asked of you later in the hiring process.

If I have a criminal record, does this mean that I won't be considered?

We ask this question as one of our pre-screening questions when you apply to a job. Please answer this question honestly. If a criminal record exists it does not automatically exclude your application. All applications are reviewed by the hiring team.

Will answering No to the pre-screening questions exclude my application?

Typically no. The pre-screening questions are an initial screening of the job applications, however they do not typically exclude your application from being considered. All job applications are reviewed by the hiring team. A case where an application may not be able to be considered when pre-screening questions are answered with a No, is when the question is asking for a bona fide occupational requirement, meaning the skill/qualification is mandatory for the position and those without it cannot be hired.

Who do I address my cover letter to?

We recommend addressing your cover letter to the hiring team, including the department of the position you are applying for. For example: Hiring Team, Public Health Services.

My question still hasn't been answered, who can I contact?

If you were unable to find the answer to your question, please contact the Human Resources Department at 519-845-0801. A link to our Job Board Candidate Guide is also included at the top of this page.
